Top of pageThe Editorial Assistant manages the review program and aids the Acquisitions Editor in competitive analysis of texts in certain markets. He or she will assist in the development of projects by reading and evaluating selected manuscripts and preparing a report for the editor. Other duties include acting as the liaison between Acquisitions Editor and other interoffice departments.
The Editorial Assistant will also provide clerical support, which includes maintaining files and records, typing and mailing correspondence, making travel arrangements for the editor and author, and handling payments for royalties and other related expenses.
This is an entry-level position. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor's degree in liberal arts or equivalent experience. Strong writing, communication and telephone skills are a necessity. Previous office or publishing experience and excellent PC skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are desired.

Top of pageThe Marketing Assistant supports the marketing managers in communications, advertising, promotions, sales support and the implementation of the marketing plan. He or she will help draft and design the sales kits, assist with product catalogs, and answer customer service and sales rep queries on the phone. The Marketing Assistant will also be required to demonstrate sales skills in closing business at conventions or on the phone. Strong organizational and computer skills are necessary, as is the ability to deal logically and positively with multiple tasks at a time.

Top of pageSales Representatives visit colleges and universities, interview faculty members and assist them with matching our textbook and technology products to their course requirements. Successful representatives supply Marketing and Acquisitions Departments with potential leads, and maintain positive relations with faculty members and college bookstore personnel.
The ideal candidate will have a four-year degree with a grade point average of 3.0 or better and evidence of top achievement in both educational and professional background. This position requires 1-4 years of successful sales or other professional work experience, as well as an interest in selling to the academic community. The successful candidate must have the ability to develop and maintain long lasting relationships with key decision makers.
